Home Care Ontario | Apr 28, 2017
The 2017 Ontario Budget, A Stronger, Healthier Ontario, continues the commitment to the health of Ontarians. Home Care Ontario is pleased by the recognition for Ontarians to realize their preference for care at home. The commitment to a continued investment of $250 million in 2017-18 will help to sustain and increase care at the frontline. The increase in respite services, educational support and the Caregiver Tax Credit acknowledge the valuable contribution to care by family caregivers.
The Association is also pleased by the announced funding for a Dementia Strategy for the province. Association members are witness to the toll that dementia places on individuals, families and friends in their homes and are eager to support implementation.
The 2017 budget enables the government’s transformation agenda and recognizes key areas of funding need. Members of Home Care Ontario are pleased to be working with partners to create a home care system that achieves more consistent and accessible service to all Ontarians.
