Minister Christine Elliott Announces the Peoples' Health Care Act, 2019

by Home Care Ontario | Feb 26, 2019

Home Care Ontario CEO, Sue VanderBent, was pleased to join Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Hon. Christine Elliott, at Bridgepoint Health for the introduction of the People’s Health Care Act, 2019.

The announcement is great news for patients and their families. We know that people want to stay in their homes as they age and these proposed changes will make that a reality for more patients.

We need all parts of the health system working together to help patients stay at home and to get them back home from acute care as quickly as possible. The current system, unfortunately, is fragmented, siloed and makes that cooperation difficult.

The creation of local Ontario Health Teams will create an integrated system that fosters collaboration and embraces technology to deliver real results for patients.

Home Care Ontario members look forward to working together with other health system partners and with the government to provide more patient-centred care where they want it - at home.
