Home Care Ontario Supports Stronger Vaccine Measures for Healthcare Sector Workers

by Home Care Ontario | Aug 17, 2021
August 17, 2021 - The safety and protection of Ontarians must always be a top priority and Home Care Ontario supports the stronger vaccination measures mandated for healthcare workers today by the Ontario government.

Over 750,000 Ontarians receive home care services annually, more than any other part of Ontario’s health care system and stronger vaccination measures will help protect home care patients and staff.

“Ontario’s home care sector has already been a leader in this space, implementing strong Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures, including universal masking and the use of appropriate PPE for any home care patient receiving routine or complex care,” said Sue VanderBent, CEO, Home Care Ontario. “These measures have protected home care patients and staff and have resulted in the home care sector having the lowest rate of virus transmission in the Ontario health care system.”

Vaccinations are a key part of protecting home care patients and staff and strengthened vaccine requirements, together with the strong protocols and protections already in place, will support Ontarians to stay safe and stable at home – where they want to be.
